The Meals on Wheels kitchens in Ste. Anne de Bellevue needs help with clean up and drivers are needed there too, as well as in Pierrefonds and Lachine! This 100% volunteer-driven program provides hot nutritious meals to home-bound or isolated seniors and to those with reduced autonomy – and, as importantly, helps break isolation. Ages 25 and up.

 The West Island CALACS is a non-profit feminist organization that advocates against sexual assault and provides services to female survivors of sexual violence and prevention services within the community. They are looking for volunteers who wish to get involved in the organization’s activities or committees as they help build a society composed of members that are economically, socially and politically equal. Ages 18+

 The Beaconsfield Library is looking for francophone volunteers, aged 55+, who are interested in helping children aged 7-12 with their reading. The intergenerational activity Get Your Read On takes place once per week, from the week of January 20 to the week of April 27. Ages 18+

There are several West Island seniors’ residences that are looking for friendly visitors for clients who have no family close by – it makes a world of difference in their lives! Also needed are volunteers to help run the group activities with the Recreation Technician! Ages 14 and up

West Island Citizen Advocacy’s Youth Engagement Project is aimed at inspiring young adults in the West Island to get involved in volunteerism and community engagement. Volunteer advocates spend a few hours each month helping their protégés by offering emotional or practical support. It’s a great way to get involved in your community! Ages 18+

The Teapot Boutique is Lachine’s best-kept secret—fantastic bargains on gently used clothing, jewellery, housewares, and much more! Volunteers are needed to help run the Boutique on Monday or Wednesday mornings from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm. The Teapot 50+ Centre is also urgently seeking volunteers who can commit to one 3 hour shift per week to lend a hand at the reception desk. Ages 18+
