An action packed week of ringette in P.E.I. saw the Lac St Louis U19AA team making it all the way to the quarter finals at the Canadian Ringette Championships after posting a record of 6 wins and 2 losses in round robin play.

Lac St-Louis beat New Brunswick 8-5, Ottawa 6-5, Nova Scotia 8-1 , the Manitoba Angels 6-3, TORL from BC 8-1 and Team Alberta; the only undefeated team in their pool, 5-3. Their two losses were to Team Saskatchewan 5-4 and the Edmonton Elite 4-3.

Friday morning saw the start of the playoff rounds for teams competing for the national crown. LSL were set in the quarter finals, facing regular season rivals Nepean for a chance to move to the semi’s. A quick start by Nepean put LSL behind 3-0 early in the first period, forcing the squad to battle back from behind the remainder of the game. Unfortunately the squad came up short and found their week of competition come to an end, losing to Nepean 7-3.

Lac St-Louis finished 6th out of 18 teams competing. To cap off the team’s week at Nationals, team member Jamie McGrath was named first team all-star on defence.

At the Open A provincial championships, held in Brossard this weekend, five Lac St-Louis teams competed for the provincial title. In Pool A play St-Laurent finished fifth in their pool, and 4-Cités finished fourth. BKRA finished third in pool B play, Pierrefonds 1 finished fourth and Pierrefonds 2 finished fifth. All five teams failed to advance to the medal rounds.

Next up for Lac St-Louis Ringette will be the Annual General Meeting in May. Numerous positions are up for election. Details can be found on their website,
