Hockey Helps the Homeless skates to a $400,000 donation to Montreal organizations

Over the past 15 years, weekend warrior players, former pros, volunteers and organizers have come together to make the Montreal edition of the Hockey Helps the Homeless event happen. Last Friday, HHTH hit the ice at the Pierrefonds Sportsplex with the end result of the day-long tournament being $400,000 raised to help a dozen Montreal organizations dealing with the homeless population. The drawing card for the players and teams to pony up their donations is having the opportunity to play alongside former NHL’ers Patrice Brisebois, Vincent Damphousse, Georges Laraque, PJ Stock, Sergio Momesso(pictured at right) and Shayne Corson. Since its’ start, the Montreal tournament has raised over $2,000,000 for the cause.
