Clinique de l’Audition Décarie-Côte des Neiges
Like vision, hearing problems are quite common, affecting an estimated 10 per cent of Canadians. In addition, an estimated 80 per cent of people with hearing loss are never diagnosed or treated. Dealing with hearing loss as early as possible is important for a number of reasons: For your social life, by making it easier to follow and take part in conversations; for your wellness, by reducing any stress, fatigue and irritability that often accompanies hearing loss; and for your safety since our ears give us warning signals in case of danger.
Joanna L. Meyer and her qualified team at their two clinics (at Decarie Square and Côte des Neiges) offer personalized service and customized solutions for all hearing problems. After a complete auditory assessment by an independent audiologist, the hearing care acoustician will propose a solution adapted to your needs then assist you with the choice, adaptation, delivery, control and personalized monitoring of their hearing aids.
They will provide you all the information regarding RAMQ and CNESST programs; depending on the degree of hearing loss, Medicare may cover up to two hearing aids to help you improve your communication. For people who worked in a noisy environment without ear protection and with a hearing loss, they may also be eligible to get hearing aids covered. The hearing care acoustician will also offer customize hearing protection for all, such as swimming earplugs, noise reduction earplugs or musician earplugs.
For those of an age when hearing loss becomes more common, the services at Clinique de l’Audition are second to none. Did you know that about one in three people between the ages of 65 and 74 have a self-reported hearing loss? And that after 75 years this figure increases to 50 per cent?
The Hearing Clinics not only offer home visits, but also have a retirement home and CHSLD program where their hearing care acoustician will drop in to evaluate the hearing needs of the residents.
