Kuper Academy is growing in both size and prestige

Kuper Academy, a long-standing private school in Kirkland and one of the most well respected, is undergoing an expansion. In addition, it will be receiving a prestigious designation from the French Ministry of Education. Head of school Joan Salette said that she’s excited to see her school taking on such great initiatives.

“We’re expanding again. I had a real demand for high school and I found that I had a little piece of land that I could fit three classrooms on, so we can spread out a little bit and it will be ready in the spring,” she explained. “It’s exciting to have steady enrollment and an increase in students during a difficult time for English schools. This year we also put in a full-day daycare for the three-year-olds, which is government subsidized. It really meets the needs of today’s parents who need a daycare service for the entire day.

Kuper has been approved as a centre d’examen DELF-DALF du Canada (Diplôme d’études en langue française)  (Diplôme approfondi de langue française), which are internationally recognized diplomas from the French Ministry of Education to prove the French-language skills of non-French candidates. “This is a feather in our cap because it’s a very prestigious designation to have,” Salette said.

And, as usual, Kuper Academy prides itself on its strong academics and wonderfully rich student life — both during after school hours.

“All of our students have time to do their studies as well as participate in sports and activities after school,” said Salette. “And everything is finished by 6:30 p.m. so they can still have their lives at home.”

With lots of exciting projects in the pipeline, Kuper Academy is not only looking forward to growing in size, but growing in terms of skill and ushering in a new generation of Kuper students — from the youngest in their new all-day daycare to the additional older students they’ll be able to accommodate with their building expansion. As well, Kuper Academy looks forward to strengthening bilingualism within the school walls.

Kuper Academy is located at 2975 Edmond St. in Kirkland. For more information call 514-426-3007 or visit www.kuperacademy.ca
