Napoleon's Cartoon: SNC-Lavalin

SNC-Lavalin — along with Bombardier, one of Canada’s most mollycoddled companies and Quebec’s sainted “fleurons” — successfully lobbied for deferred prosecution agreements to be written into the Criminal Code. The agreements allow companies to make an out-of-court settlement over criminal charges, while continuing to operate as a business. DPAs became law in Canada in Sept. 2018, but the company's request for one was thankfully refused. Can you imagine if it wasn’t?
