Two very honoured Dollard-des-Ormeaux residents were lauded for their athletic achievements at the April council meeting.

Special Olympian Sara Jane Daigle and former Olympian and speed skating coach Alanna Kraus were asked to sign the city’s Golden Book for their achievements in sport while giving back to the community.

Daigle has been competing since the tender age of eight and an athlete since she was 21 and has always enjoyed all sports, particularly swimming.

At the World Summer Games, Daigle won three gold medals for her country while Krauss is a double medalist, earning a bronze in 2002 and then a silver in 2006 for speed skating at the Winter Olympic Games.

Since moving to DDO from Calgary, Krauss has been passing on her impressive skills and dedication to the sport as the head coach for the Dollard-des-Ormeaux Speed Skating Club.

“The City pays tribute to these athletes for their achievements and has invited them to sign the Golden Book,” explained Natalia Correa, Section Head of Communications. “Their sporting and personal achievements motivate our entire community.”
