For some Sainte Anne-de-Bellevue residents, it is deja vu all over again with a fire on main street that originated out of Marco’s restaurant.

The original Marco’s succumbed to a fire some years ago and had to be rebuilt from scratch and Tuesday morning, another fire broke out but this time it was from the upstairs apartments.

As of Tuesday at 1 p.m., there are still roughly 80 firefighters at the scene and according to the Montreal Fire Department , there was no one present in the apartments or in the restaurant at the time of the 911 call Tuesday morning so no one was injured.

The fire, as of yet the cause is unknown, started on the second floor and rapidly spread throughout the building.

The windows and doors to the apartments were sealed which made it a challenge for firefighters to get inside in a timely fashion.

When The Suburban visited the site at just before 1 p.m., there were no flames visible from the structure and the firefighters were dousing the edifice to prevent any fire spreading to surrounding buildings.
