Impact play for students

The June 1 Montreal Impact match against Orlando City SC will benefit Laval students.

Specially-priced ticket are being offered to all staff, partners and students, as well as their families and friends, from the Commission scolaire de Laval. The 4: p.m. game at Saputo Stadium is also intended to be a fundraising campaign for the Fondation scolaire de Laval. Two Tony Licursi Scholarships will also be awarded to two students who have particularly distinguished themselves in the past year. Bowling for Seniors

Les Petits Frères de Laval is holding a Bowl-a-thon to support isolated seniors Sunday, April 28.

From 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. the organization is inviting everyone to its 8th annual bowl-a-thon to support the Organization’s mission of welcoming and accompanying single seniors, in order to counter their isolation, creating a committed and loyal family around them for the rest of their lives.

The event takes place at Salon de quilles BG, 472 boulevard des Laurentides. The cost is $25 for 3 adult games (shoes included), $15 for children. For information call 450 934-8955.

Planting

The Centre de la nature is offering a series of workshops on plants and flowers open to anyone who wants to learn more about different horticultural techniques led by qualified personnel.

The April 25 Initiation to seeding techniques is full, but call for any availabilities. From 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the animation greenhouse, take advantage of this workshop to start your vegetable and herbal seedlings for your vegetable garden. During the workshop, each participant will sow seeds offered to them and will leave with a mini-greenhouse.

Vermicomposting is on the menu Sunday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Find a new way to compost….with worms! Easy, odorless and fast, you will be surprised to fall in love with earthworms! There will be a draw for a vermicomposting bin among the participants.

Seeds otherwise Thursday, May 9, offers new ways to sow vegetables and flowers. Each participant leaves with the equipment.

On Thursday, May 30, you will be Creating a hanging basket from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Each workshop can welcome a maximum of 18 participants. Cost is $120 for Laval residents (holders of Carte Avantages Laval, and $15 for non-residents.
