Urgel Bourgie Feron Official Opening in LaSalle

LaSalle Mayor Manon Barbe, MNA Robert Poeti and City Councillor Monique Vallée joined 125 officials and dignitaries at the red ribbon cutting ceremony of Urgel Bourgie Feron Athos in LaSalle last week.

The new funeral complex is located at 1275 Dollard near Jean Brillant, in the building that used to house Buffet Sorrento.

“People are telling us that this is a place of significant lifetime ceremonies,” said Daniela Romano, executive director of the complex. “They had their baptisms and marriages here, and now this is where they’ll go to end their lives too.”

The new funeral complex replaces a smaller one on Shevchenko that closed in April. The new location has been operating since then so that staff could be fully trained and ready to answer questions at the opening last week.

“We kept the Feron’s name specifically to let people know that we didn’t close to leave them behind,” said Romano. “A lot more people are coming. We are serving more people from the Italian community.”

Urgel Bourgie gutted and fully renovated the new space over a 14 month period to create a funeral complex with everything a family might need to arrange end-of-life services.

“The new facility has much more space than our previous location,” said Celine Bourson, Urgel’s Bourgie’s marketing coordinator. “It contains a chapel, 3 viewing rooms, a columbarium, a reception room and parking in the basement and out of doors.”

“We’ve notified all the religious groups in LaSalle to make sure that everyone knows where we are now,” said Romano. “We’ve been in the community for a long time and we attend and sponsor many events.”

Romano says that Urgel Bourgie Feron operates an infinity program for any religious group that wants to join. “Any organization from our community is welcome to sign an agreement with us,” she says. “Then we donate $200 to their organization each time any family from their group holds a funeral with us.”

Urgel Bourgie Feron is open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. They can also be reached any time of day or night at 1-844-735-2025.
