Sports Experts

As first reported in The Suburban, the former Target store space at Place Vertu is being filled by a large new Sports Experts store, opening tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 10.

FGL Sports company officials say the store, at 53,000 square feet, will be five times the size of its store in another location of the mall. The new store will also operate with Atmosphere, specializing in sports and outdoor recreation products; and Sports Rousseau, specializing in hockey products and banners. There will be a total of 80 employees at the new store.

“This is an important step forward for Sports Experts,” stated Jean-Stéphane Tremblay, executive vice president of FGL Sports. “In our Place Vertu store, we will incorporate digital media to offer an inspiring brand experience which lets customers immerse themselves in their favourite sports. This will be one of our largest and most impressive stores in Quebec.”

The featured digital media will help customers shop, officials added.

“A shoe wall will feature touch screens and RFID technology, allowing customers to examine products and look up detailed information; community video screens will show sport partners, local sports information, and profiles of passionate employees; interactive stations will allow customers to access the Sports Experts web platform; and video displays will highlight various products.”

“We are pleased to offer a vast product assortment and expert advice from our knowledgeable employees who are passionate about sports,” stated Tom Quinn, owner of the Place Vertu Sports Experts since 2003 and recent Member of the Order of Canada. “We are proud to continue our tradition of community involvement. We will keep on supporting amateur sports in the West Island, just as we have done for the past 12 years.”
