Emunah Montreal will hold its annual Shavuot Bake Sale on Thursday, June 6 from 2:30 – 6 p.m. at 5618 Edgemore Ave. in Côte St. Luc. Delicious, homemade cakes, cheesecakes, cupcakes, cookies, challahs, soups and quiches will be available for purchase. The event is being co-chaired by Melanie Goldfarb and Alyssa Meyers.
Emunah supports residential children’s homes and day care centres throughout Israel for children who have been removed from their homes because of extreme dysfunction within the family. Through a system of five residential homes, Emunah gives children the care they never received at home.
Emunah members believe that every child deserves the right to reach their full potential and strive to break the cycle of dysfunction the children are stuck in. The proceeds from the bake sale will go to fund innovative therapies for children in residential care. Not every child responds to traditional forms of therapy. Therapists and educators have introduced alternative therapies to be able to reach the child and develop a trusting relationship, often opening the door for the more traditional but necessary therapy. These innovative therapies include art, drama, pet and horseback riding. Recognizing that each child is different, the therapist works very hard to adapt the right form of therapy for each child.
