Annual West Island Walk of Faith returns Good Friday, Apr. 19

On Friday, April 19, hundreds of West Islanders will gather at 8:50 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (106A Avenue Anselme-Lavigne) in Dollard des Ormeaux for the annual procession of the Easter Walk of Faith. Organizers are expecting, as in previous years, the number of walkers to be somewhere between 400 to 600, along with baby strollers and well-behaved canine family members. There is a police escort and road blocks when crossing Sources Boulevard. Many people join along the way. This is a quiet, respectful event commemorating the true meaning of Easter. “There is still a sizeable population of practicing Christians for whom Easter is more than just a celebration of spring or festival of all things chocolate,” stated Pierrefonds resident Natalie Turko-Slack..
