Weekends are for relaxing, leisurely breakfasts, and catching up with friends. I did all of this at Kirkland Resto Bar.

Both my friend and I were very impressed with this restaurant - we both consider ourselves "breakfast people" and we just loved this place. Tucked in behind the Laurentienne Bank in Kirkland, the restaurant is immaculate, and the owner is very involved and hands-on, and very friendly.

As soon as we were shown to our seats we were offered coffee (which, by the way, is a very nice blend, a "must" at breakfast). The coffee was hot and our waiter kept coming by to make sure our cups were full - in my opinion, this is a sign of a well-run restaurant (none of this "we're making a fresh pot" or you have to keep asking for a fill-up!). One of us ordered a Kirkland Western omelette, chock full of fresh ingredients like ham, bell peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, and a three-cheese blend. On the side we got two more pieces of ham, a choice of toast, house potatoes (that were crispy and not greasy with caramelized onions - delish!), and a small bowl of fresh fruit. We got all of this for $11!

We also ordered the poached eggs on an English muffin, with bacon and sausage, which was covered in a light, freshly-made hollandaise sauce (we asked if we could have it on the side, which wasn't a problem, and, because the bowl was warm, it kept the sauce warm). Again, we got potatoes and a fresh bowl of fruit with it, and this, too, was just $12.

All in all, we were very impressed with every facet of Kirkland Resto Bar: the food was excellent and so was the attention to detail. In fact, I was so impressed that I brought my mother there the very next day (we sat on their patio this time and it was wonderful). There were more people there on a Sunday however it felt like we were alone - our waiter was attentive and the owner made his rounds to all of the tables to ensure everything was as it should be as per his standards (that, I might add, are very high).

Wonder what I'll have during my third meal at Kirkland Resto Bar...
