Vacation time is approaching, and this is usually the time we try to reconnect with ourselves/family/partners/friends etc. One of the options in reconnecting seems to be travel. I guess it is because summer is around the corner and love is in the air...
This made me think: Where are the perfect spots, or should I say, the most romantic getaways?
Well, this is what I came up with in my research:
Starting with the infamous gondola rides, to an evening out at the world-famous Teatro La Feni opera house, there are plenty of romantic things to do here, but my fave: stroll along the streets then stop for a glass of vino while people watching at a outdoor bistro. Then one can watch the sunset over the canals in the city at Ponte dell’Academia.
Fun fact: Kauai in Hawaii’s least-developed island. So, it promises lush landscapes and breathtaking waterfalls. The “Garden Island” spot is best for couples seeking outdoor adventure. There is also snorkelling and scuba diving options in the crystal blue waters on the north shore, or hiking the Kalalau trail on the Na Pali coastline.
Some folks think Paris is too common… if so, why not try the charming seaside town in the French Riviera? One can walk along the waterfront Promenade des Anglais (at sunset), while you have the wonderful backdrop of the Mediterranean. Or, walk along the cobblestone roads in Vieux Nice (old Nice). Don’t forget to shop and purchase all the wonderful Niçoise soaps, Provençal textiles, and eat the "viande froid" (meats) and cheeses. This is ever enchanting.
Bora Bora, Tahiti
Clearly there is a reason Tahiti island is ALWAYS on some sort of bucket list. Think about the white sand beaches lined with coconut trees surrounded by the Bora Bora lagoons, where one finds tropical fish, coral and manta rays. It's another perfect setting for scuba diving or snorkelling. Then one can indulge in one of the many luxury resorts and spas that dot the island with the over-water bungalows/villas.
OMG another bucket list destination that has the best of both worlds. One can begin their stay at a luxury beach resort in the southern region - it’s perfect for indulging in the sun. Then on can head to Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali - here you will find a variety of temples to visit, and also activities like river rafting, hiking or cycling rice terraces, and shopping in traditional markets.
OK, so this is all for this week. Stay tuned for more next week…
