Student Voices: Friendship

Albert Camus once said, "Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend."

In this quote, we learn that we shouldn’t follow our paths or our friend's paths. We do what friends are supposed to do; help each other with our difficulties. We shouldn’t copy each other. Instead, we work as a team.

Helen Keller said, “I would rather walk with a friend in the dark than by myself in the light."

This quote is very similar to the first one. It teaches us that it’s better to work with others than by yourself. Friends can inspire you and help you face your difficulties. At school I learned that friends are very important in life. They can change your life in a better way. Both of these quotes are exceptionally inspiring.

One of the things I learned from my peers was that friendship is a big key to life. Friends support you and always make sure you're succeeding. Having superb friends that know what’s right to do and what’s bad to do is an advantage in your life because friends are role models who can help you be a better person. You have to be a good friend in order to get a good friend.

I’m sure there are numerous qualities that you look for when you're forging a new friendship or even when you are already in a friendship. I look for someone who is thoughtful, loyal and someone who likes to be positive. Positivity helps you create a friendship.

One quality that I like the most in a friend is someone who has a good sense of humour. Laughter brings so much joy into my life and it makes me happy very quickly. Remember, a strong friendship doesn’t need daily conversation togetherness, as long as the relationship lives in the heart. True friends never part and true friends are never apart maybe in distance but never in heart.
