My work-from-home schedule affords me lots of time with my bean, but with my husband doing shift work, he's not so lucky. So my boys took on a project that started last fall and is going to be completed in the coming weeks... but I wanted to give you a little sneak preview now!

My husband and son (with some help from my brother-in-law) built a playhouse for our backyard.

It began with a father-son trip to The Home Depot to get supplies. As usual, their staff was extremely helpful and were able to look at the building plans we found online and help us buy all the materials we needed. It was our one-stop shop to get everything on our to-do list. So simple!

Next, it was time to build. They built it away from our back fence at first so they could put on the back wall, and then it was lifted (!) and placed against the fence. A slanted roof was constructed to keep away water build-up and infiltration.

Then, the bean moved in. We found some odds and ends in our garage and he added a table and chairs, a few rugs, a clock, a thermometer, and a garbage pail. We put up a few hooks, and he chose a hanging strawberry plant for outside.

The final steps will be to add a door and some Plexiglas windows. There will also be shingles on the roof and siding on the facing of the playhouse.

I can't wait to share the completed project with you guys in the coming weeks.

BIG shoutout to The Home Depot for always making our projects so easy, from putting in our garden to building our deck a few summers ago, to completing a really fun father/son playhouse. They also hold kid-building workshops the first Saturday of every month. Thanks guys!
