At holiday time we all want to succeed at making all our special purchases without breaking the bank. When it comes to makeup, I can give you a few pointers to save bucks whether you are looking for quality makeup items for yourself or for that special someone. Let me tell you how you can be both Debonair and Molière 😉

Value Gift Sets & High End Minis:

Value Gift Sets featuring high quality full size and/or miniature versions of popular items are often readily available at this time of year...some $25 and under. Makeup companies often release miniature versions of top-selling products sometimes in the form of ornaments or stocking stuffers in festive packages at holiday time. Both Sephora and Ulta have sections on their websites and in store dedicated to these goodies.

Check out the Pineapple Of My Eye Collector's Set by Tarte that was a steal at $77 (valued at $454) and is now slashed to $55! This set features a 24 pan Amazonian Clay eyeshadow palette filled with shimmers and mattes, blush, bronzer, highlighter; a Sex Kitten Liquid Eyeliner Pen, a deluxe mini Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara and Pink Lip Rescue Balm. The set's pineapple shaped packaging is stunning and Tarte correctly calls this collection a full face in one place!

The Little Fetishes Orgasm Blush and Lip Set by NARS treats you to deluxe miniature size versions of their famous blush and lipstick for only $32.

The Too Faced Dream Queen Limited Edition Makeup Collection is another good bargain. In this set for $72 you will get 24 pretty shadows, blushes, a bronzer, a highlighter, a Better Than Sex Mascara mini, Hangover Spray mini, a cute pink lip gloss and a pretty canvas makeup bag.

Tatcha put out a set of their best selling skin care products in economy sizes for a reasonable $75 price point .The Bestsellers Set includes Tatcha's famous Cleansing Camila Oil, Rice Enzyme Powder to gently exfoliate skin, Water Cream providing nutrients and pore reduction technology and Dewy Skin Mist for hydration. These products, used together are ideal for optimum skin care and perfectly prepare skin for flawless makeup application.

The phenomenal Superhero Mascara by IT Cosmetics is available in a convenient $17 miniature version. You will find that many high-end mascaras come in mini and I always advise my readers to pick these up instead of the larger tubes. This because full size mascara tubes tend to dry up or reach their expiry date before we can finish them. You will get more bang for your buck if you purchase your mascaras in minis and replace them regularly. As well, these make wonderful stocking stuffers!

Pat McGrath's MatteTrance Lipsticks can be yours for only $32 if you opt for the Lust: Mini MatteTrance Lipstick Trio. This is a set of gorgeous holiday reds in stylish McGrath signature lipstick tubes. Lipstick high class, perfectly sized for your evening bag when you hit the party scene!

“Honey, I Shrunk The Palette":

If you had your eye on some popular high-end makeup palettes, but your pocketbook can't take the hit, don't despair, a few companies have our backs!

If you always wanted Urban Decay's Naked Heat Palette instead of paying $66 for the original I advise you to get the UD Naked Petite Heat Palette, a 6 pan $36 collection of beautiful shadows in "Naked Heat" inspired hues.

The tea from the makeup world is that the eleventh hour holiday sleeper release from Urban Decay is destined to be bomb! UD has just dropped three small compact palettes in a collection called On The Run. The three cuties...Detour, Bailout and Shortcut each go for $32 a piece and appear to be the little siblings of the more expensive UD Born To Run Palette ($59) that was all the rage this Summer. These can be an option if you don't want to shell out lotsa $$$.

Violet Voss also issued fun sized eyeshadow mini palettes. I love the mauve toned mini called Berry Burst that will only set you back $24 while delivering the same quality as this company's full-sized and somewhat pricey palettes.

The highly acclaimed Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette will cost you $59, but luckily you can opt for the Too Faced Tickled Peach Mini Eyeshadow Palette and receive a set of similarly peach scented shades as found in the original for only $32.

Look For High End Dupes:

Sometimes bargain brands can release items that are very similar or even copycat versions of more expensive makeup items. Here are my dupe suggestions and finds for some of the current hottest high-end makeup items:

The ABH Modern Renaissance Palette will set you back close to $60. An amazing pigmented copy of ABH is the Rose In The Air Palette by Wet N Wild ($5) . Another close dupe is the NYX Ultimate Palette in Warm Rust.

Huda's New Nudes Palette, which is one of the most popular holiday releases, features a multi-textured collection of more berry tones than actual nudes. To say that this palette is beautiful is an understatement as it not only features glitters, shimmers, two innovative speckled shades and mattes, but comes with a pan of concealer base for crease cutting as a show stopping added extra! Luckily there is a good dupe for this $85 palette that will only cost you $15.77 CAD plus $19.99 shipping (available online) . Check out the Beauty Creations Palette called Tease Me. This collection certainly doesn't have all the textures of the Huda palette, but the color variety in this very good quality set will allow you to create very similar looks.

I am sure that many of you will agree with me when I tell you that the Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette is absolutely stunning! ($66) The good news is that the Rimmel Magnif'Eyes Shadow Palette in the new Crimson Edition ($12.98 available at Walmart) can give you a similar look at about one fifth of the price! A hint is that the majority of the 12 pan shimmer and matte eyeshadow palettes in this line mimic the color scheme of many high-end palettes that are currently popular. I personally find the quality of the product pretty awesome for the price.

Many of the economical cosmetic brushes by Morphe are comparable to much more expensive brushes by M.A.C. and Sigma. This is especially true if you pick up Morphe's M433 Pro Firm Blending Fluff Brush, their M432 Flat Liner Definer Brush great for lower lash line shadow and brow definition and the M167 Oval Shadow Brush, stellar for precision shadow application. All of these are available for under the $10 mark!

If you fancy the Urban Decay Naked Smokey Palette ($66) and are on a budget, opt for the Morphe 35K Palette ($30) as a super close dupe. The same holds true for the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette versus the Morphe 35O Palette.

Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter's virtual twin is ELF Highlighter in the shade Enchanted and it could be yours for under five bucks!

Huda Beauty's Rose Gold Palette's dupe ($85) is the Makeup Revolution Chocolate Rose Gold Palette for under $20.

Store Brand Products:

In-house store name brands such as those from Sephora, Ulta, Personnelle (at Jean Coutu) and Joe Fresh (at Maxi, Provigo and Pharmaprix /Shopper's Drug Mart ) offer an array of decent fashion forward makeup products at reasonable prices. Often during the holiday season these companies will feature some super cute packaging and holiday themed gift value sets.

DIY Palettes:

Some very good economical brands sell shadows and blushes separately as well as empty well compacts that you can fill with singles of your choice. A good example of this are the beautiful shadows and blushes by Makeup Geek that go for $6 USD a pop and are now sold at many Target stores in the USA! Makeup Geek delivers quality at reasonable prices. I love their fillable shadow and blush Travel Vault Compacts, which are perfect to create your own economical dupes of more costly palette color combinations.

Discount Store Hauls:

As featured in my previous vlog...hit up the cosmetic sections of Winners, Marshalls, or TJ Maxx where you can find high-end makeup items at discount prices.

It is a good idea to regularly check out the Sale section on the Ulta, Sephora, or other high-end makeup sites. There are often some good deals (many at 50% off) that you will miss unless you expressly and routinely look for them. FYI: Right now you will find Kat Von D's, I Am Divine Palette at $27.60 instead of $46, the Step-By-Step Contour Kit by Smashbox at $40 instead of $56 and UD's original Naked Palette for $33 instead of $66!

Keep your eyes peeled for bi-annual sales put on by cosmetic companies in your area . This is a great way to stock up on products, makeup cases and tools at discount prices. L'Oréal, Lise Watier and Marcelle/Annabelle usually have sales in both the early Spring and Fall in the Montreal area either open to the public or by special invitation.

To all my readers I give a giant Hug and Muah and wish you all a healthy and happy holiday season and Happy New Year!! Until next time my Holidazzling Hotties, Remember That You Are Gorgeous and Rock Your Beauty!
