Unity Rally Against Discrimination

October 31st, 2012

There will be a Canadian Unity Rally Against Discrimination this coming Sunday November 4th at Place Du Canada at 1pm.
Rally organizers expanded the original goal of the Rally - that of putting the Canadian flag back in the National Assembly - to a broader purpose of  uniting all Quebecers against discrimination, violence and segregation.
Rally organizer Mike King stated, "It is time that we focus on what is most important such as the economy and the ending of discrimination based on language. We are all fed up of politicians creating divisions, this is not English vs French. This is about all Quebecers from all cultural backgrounds raising their  voices for equity and equality regardless of language."
Hugo Shebbeare spokesman for the OQLA (Quebec Office of the English Language) added," The  physical attacks against teens and commuters of the STM for speaking English and ambulance drivers refusing to provide emergency healthcare in English is unacceptable, we ask that the federal government reassure non-Francophone Quebecers that it will protect their civil rights."
Among the special guests will be:
Mike King-Unity rally organizer
Beryl Wajsman - Editor of The Suburban
Hugo Shebbeare-Spokesperson for the OQLA
Jimmy Kalafatidis - Former President of the Equality party
Sonya Mullins - Mother of the teen assaulted for speaking English
Mark Bergeron-father of Ella Bergeron, the sick child with a para-medic who refused to speak English.
