St. Laurent Maisons Fleuries winners announced

The residential and corporate winners of the 31st edition of the St. Laurent Maisons Fleuries contest, acknowledging those who have beautifully landscaped properties, were announced Oct. 11.
The awards were given out at the Centre des Loisirs. Mayor Alan DeSousa told the gathering that the borough has “magnificent greenspaces and a rich biodiversity that we must protect and enhance. This is why we have greatly increased our efforts in this regard. For example, our two current major projects in the works, the new library and the sports complex, will be harmoniously integrated to their environment and will be the subject of a very well done landscaping. This will enable citizens to get in touch with nature while enjoying the modern facilities and services.”
Twenty-four prizes were given out Oct. 11, with 14 in residential and apartment/condo categories, six for community gardens and four grand prizes.
The winners in the residential category were: Judith Ellen Ingerman, Jean-Claude Lettre and Marthe Charland, Thuy Vo Raymond Giguère, Arcangelo Evangelista and Angela Evangelista, Mark Ackerman and Sheryl Goldstein, Martin Meszaros and Patricia Pessina, the management of Saphir II, Francesco Del Pinto, the management of Place Fortier, Ada Trak, Mike Kourakos and Pabaskevi Halassori-Kourakos, Nicolae Stanciu and Magdalena Vitescu, and the co-owners of Villa Princesse I.
The winners in the community garden category were Enrico Guerriero (Alexis-Nihon), Teresa Yacovella (Noël-Nord), Maria Aglaé (Hartenstein), Aida Bayouk (Saint-Laurent), Saroginibevi Balasingam (Cardinal) and Kanu Patel (Super Jardin).
The grand prize winners were: Le Bouquet Saint-Laurent on St. Germain (Raymond-Jasmin prize), Liberty Sites Ltd on Trans Canada Highway (enterprise category); the Buddhist temple on Poirier, including Somchit Kannougyai, Wanchai Mansi, Nym Vichit and Vanchay Jayphait (institution category): and Daniel Calbeaza and Didier Mongrolle (Micheline-Arsenault prize of excellence).n
