For Pincourt residents who attend sporting events at the Chene Bleu High School field, shade had been provided for spectators in the stands by six American linden trees that had been planted for that purpose. Now, the town is seeking help from the public for any information regarding the recent vandalism and destruction of the six trees.
In a release, the town noted that it "makes considerable efforts to promote the environment and improve the citizens' quality of life by planting trees and plants in the parks" and that each tree was valued at $300.
Municipal patrols have been increased for the neighbourhood but anyone with information on the events of the last two weeks where the town's public, and recently interred, trees have been targeted should call the SQ at 450-424-1212.
"It is disappointing that the amounts invested by taxpayers are wasted by careless people without any consideration for the public good," said the assistant director of the Emergency and Public Safety Services, Stéphane Séguin.n
