By Kevin Woodhouse, October 24th, 2012

Those interested in getting a flu vaccine without having to leave the West Island will be able to do so starting on Nov. 6 at six different locations in a number of municipalities.
The West Island HSSC suggests that anyone over the age of 60, families and patients with chronic health issues, parents and siblings of children under the age of two (but at least six-months-old) as well as pregnant women and their families.
The shot is free and this year's vaccine will be inoculating against H1N1 as well as Type A and B of the H3N2 strains. "This vaccine is new and not identical to the one administered last year. To be protected against these strains this year, you will need to be vaccinated," explained Sandrine Charpentier, spokesperson for the West Island HSSC.
Flu vaccines will be dispensed at the Vivalis in Pointe Claire, the Civic Centre and Résidence des Sources in DDO as well as the Herb Linder Annex located in Beaconsfield.
No appointments are necessary and shots can be obtained between 12:30 and 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday through Saturday.  Upcoming stops include the Arthur-Séguin Chalet from Nov. 6-10 and the Centre communautaire de l'Est in Pierrefonds-Roxboro from Nov. 13-17.
