Fly-half Quentin Pradere of London, England scored a game-high seven points as visiting McGill dumped Concordia 22-10 in men's rugby at Concordia Stadium, Wednesday.
In the process, the Redmen ran their win streak to 12 consecutive victories in league and playoff action against RSEQ conference opponents, dating back to 2010.
In women's play, the Stingers upended McGill 18-7 in the eighth annual Kelly-Anne Drummond Cup game, evening that annual charity affair at 4-4 since it was inaugurated.
Pradere, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound economics sophomore, connected on a penalty goal, worth three points, and went 2-for-3 on his conversion attempts.
Three McGill players each added a try, including Roderick MacKenzie, a fifth-year senior from Vancouver, BC., in addition to freshman Rhys McRae-McKee of Pte. Claire, Que., and junior Cam Perrin of North Vancouver, B.C.
Frederic Kacou scored the lone try for Concordia and teammate Joseph Fulginiti rounded out the scoring with a penalty goal and one conversion.
McGill, which improved to 2-0 in regular season play, will put their streak on the line at Sherbrooke (1-0) on Sunday afternoon. The winless Stingers (0-2) are off until Sept. 21 when the host the Montreal Carabins, a new expansion team in the league with a 0-1 record.
In the women’s game, Concordia’s Erika Ikonomopoulos tallied a pair of tries and teammate Jackie Tittley added a penalty goal and a convert to give the Stingers their eighth straight win over McGill.
Brianna Miller of Pte. Claire, Que., accounted for all of the Martlets scoring with one try and a conversion. McGill (1-1) will host Sherbrooke on Sept.16, while the Stingers (2-0) play at Carleton the same day.
