Following a hard fought election, the people of St. Henri continued to place their trust in Marguerite Blais who was former Premier Jean Charest’s Minister in charge of the Québec’s Senior Citizens.
“We identified our vote and we did everything we could to get it out and into the polls,” said veteran Liberal campaign organizer Robert ‘Bob’ Dobie.
Compared to the last election when Blais was twice declared to be the loser only to finally be declared the election’s winner after the advance votes were counted, she handily won yesterday’s election by over 2000 votes.
“During the last election, we only managed to the polls during the advance polls,” said Dobie. “This time we managed to get 8900 out to the advance polls along with 100 who were allowed to vote after the DGE (Directeur Général des Élections) allowed us to bring the ballot box to their beds.”
As one of the former Premier’s most popular ministers, Blais travelled to every part of the province after which she made every effort to meet with seniors in their homes, their residences and their clinics. Aside from her own efforts, the QS (Québec Solidaire) candidate did do a lot to contribute to Blais’ victory when she took more than enough votes away from PQ (Parti Québecois) candidate Sophie Stanké to provide Blais with her comfortable majority.n
