Sometime between Saturday night and Tuesday morning, the West Island Black Community Association's offices (WIBCA) were vandalized when suspects painted graffiti on the building's front door and windows as well as leaving a racially charged note in the mailbox.
Community Relations Officer Daniel Maheu of Station 3 told The Suburban that after conducting an investigation, officers at Station 3 are transferring the case to a special squad of police who deal with hate crimes.
Extensive photos of the offending damage were taken in the hopes that the vandals’ tagging signature is already on file.
Besides what looked like a graffiti signature, the words "PQ Rules" were also spray painted onto the WIBCA's offices.
The West Island Black Community Association has been serving the public since 1982 and offers a wide array of services for the area's youth including summer camps, homework tutorial help as well as a schorlarship program for university and cegep students.n
